working with Folders and automation

Hi guys,

i have a track that is finished mixed and with automation that i want to try different arrangements, so i decided to pack the whole track into a folder and chop it in sections and shuffle them around, thing is there is a lot of mess left from the automation would like to hear from other how to avoid this. is it better to convert all automation into the regions? that sometimes can leave a mess to to deal with it there is automation outside the regions... any suggestions?
