Setup help

I apologize if this request is inappropriate to this list -- from 
looking at the archives, it appears the list is mostly used for 
discussion of SF's aim and implementation -- but I'm not quite 
sure where to go next.  Any pointers would be appreciated.

I just installed SF on a Windows 2000 system, and I can't get any 
audio into it.  I verified that my microphone and audio card work 
properly with the Windows Sound Recorder.  The levels are low 
(even though the mic record level is set to max in the Windows 
Volume Control) but it does work.  (I checked that the microphone 
is plugged into the mic in jack, not the line in.)  But SF 
doesn't receive any audio at all.  Local Loopback doesn't echo 
anything, and the Audio Monitor doesn't show any input.

The online help doesn't offer many troubleshooting tips.  Are 
there any websites that help?
