Please check again, if the files/ directory is really writable for the
webserver. If I remove the writable-for-webserver part, I get a "nice"
full PopoonFileNotFoundException error here. Do you get that too? I
don't know under which user the apple web-server runs, maybe www-data.
Just login into the Terminal, go to the files/ directory and type

chmod -R a+rw .

with that, every user can write to the files/ directory (if the above
doesn't work, try with

sudo chmod -R a+rw .

and type in your password.

One further problem could be, that you're trying to upload bigger files
than allowed. BxCMS should report the max size just below the upload
field ("Max upload size: 10M" in my case..)
