Hello, Nick (and thanks for forwarding this information, Bob), I work for an IT consultancy with offices in Chicago and Milwaukee. We are implementing and have implemented Zope, Plone, and OpenCms for clients, as well as helped them through the CM needs assessment and tool evaluation processes with both commercial and open source tools. Some clients we've implemented these tools for include: Clear Channel Entertainment (15 public websites using Plone as CMS), College of American Pathologists (collaboration portal via Plone), Pfizer (OpenCms as CMS or project team intranet), and Aurora Health Care (HR intranet using OpenCms.) We've implemented commercial solutions such as Documentum, Percussion, Fatwire, Interwoven, Ektron, etc. as well. As a value-add, we've also partnered with a very affordable and solid Zope/Plone hosting provider, if that is an option you're considering. If you'd like to forward your RFP to me, I'd be glad to work with you toward a solution. Thanks, Ken Wasetis kwasetis-/[email protected] 224-628-1665 ----- Original Message ----- From: Bob Doyle To: Nicholas Rabinowitz ; [email protected] Cc: [email protected] Sent: Wednesday, April 14, 2004 10:52 AM Subject: [CMS] Re: [General] Finding OS CMS providers Hi Nick, I am forwarding your request to the new CMS mailing list. This includes new IA, new graphic design (which we're getting pro bono from a well-known local firm), and, you guessed it, a new CMS. We've done a lot of internal requirements gathering, we have a good idea of what functionality we must have and what we'd like to have, and we're in the process of putting together an RFP. We've identified a number of commercial CMS vendors to receive the RFP, but most seem to have either inferior products or a price point beyond our relatively limited (<$100k) non-profit budget. Using an OS CMS seems like the perfect way to get an enterprise-level CMS within our budget. Like may non-profits, however, we have limited in-house resources (read: one developer with PHP experience) available to implement and customize an OS product. We'd consider working with freelancers, but would prefer to work with a firm, and we'd like to get responses to our RFP, so that we can compare apples to apples. I've had some difficulty, however, identifying potential RFP recipients to implement an OS CMS. I've evaluated a number of CMS products, and identified several that seem like they meet our requirements, or could be customized to do so - notably Zope/Plone, Midgard, and openCMS. The sites for each of these products include lists of service providers, but in many cases there are very few companies listed in the US, and I suspect these lists are not a complete representation of the companies that could implement the product. Does anyone have suggestions about how and where I should look for companies to help us implement an OS CMS? I feel that we've reached exactly the same stumbling block as many non-profits when it comes to OS CMSs - our business needs require an outside vendor, and we're not sure where to look for OS providers, while the commercial companies are beating down our door.
