Best Practices for Controlled Vocabulary

Hi all, I am trying to assemble some practices options for vocabulary control. Can any of you relate experiences with building a vocabulary, a taxonomy, or a thesaurus? Or do you know of any good articles on the web we can refer to? I learned a lot from Information Architecture for the World Wide Web, by Lou Rosenfeld and Peter Morville, pp. 177-188, and from a presentation by Bob Boiko that I videotaped and put on the web at http://media.skybuilders.com/oscom/Boiko/Boiko.rm I put summary info in the CMS Glossary entry http://www.cmswiki.com/tiki-index.php?page=ControlledVocabulary But I am looking for war stories, things that went well or badly.
