I wonder if a good URL rewriting scheme can resolve this - what the webserver
renders is the new page, but what the browser sees is the old URL with no HTTP
302, meta refresh, JavaScript or other redirect.  Again, logging of obsolete
URLs should be implemented so the links referencing them can be updated.
