I'd suggest leaving the correlation of the source device and the
user/workstation up to the 'phone system'.  There are lots of ways to go about
that and I suspect it would be extremely site specific.

We already do something like that (currently totally detached from OGo).  If
your network has an IM system, or your workstation supports winpop (yea, I
know, but its everywhere) looking up CallId information in a CRM database and
popping the data to the client is pretty simple.  Again a station (as in PBX
handset) has to be correlated to a workstation/user.
