What does groupware have to do with workstation authentication?
And, BTW, you can already do that. There is pGINA for a client side solution or
Samba-as-PDC for a server side solution (and Samba merrily interoperates with
OpenLDAP and Hiemdal kerberos).

It has been built, we've been there for years, and the view is quite nice.
Groupware (IMHO) is/was the last missing bit, which is why I did the Pilean
dance-of-joy when I first saw the OpenGroupware Open Source announcement.
