It is what I use in production.  I process most of the patches these
days,  and I usually run them through a battery of tests first and on my
production servers before sending them upstream.  I'd say trunk is
pragmatically speaking more stable - but there isn't a guarantee against
breaks.  Also I have no idea who is managing "official" releases.
