I reported the problem here on the mailing list in 2021 February and the problem is onging since several versions: "Subject: [Tiki-users] Problems vs recent upgrades Sender: "Tóth Attila" <[email protected]> Date: 2021. February 28.(V) 12:33 Recipient: "Tiki users mailing list" <[email protected]> For several versions now (maybe since 16.x), the installer cannot utilize the database connection while initiating an upgrade from a browser. The symptom is that as I enter the database name, the user and the password, it brings me to the screen where I can select to wipe the database or upgrade. Upon selecting upgrade it drops back to the screen where I must specify database connection details." > * how you manage upgrades as the installer does not work? "So I get used to perform upgrades in the shell like this: ... sudo -u apache php console.php database:update ..." I've been doing manual upgrades from the console since then. I've only faced an issue with that when I wrote that email. Otherwise it works, no error messages. > * do you have also system or error messages referring to collation, ex > latin or utf8? > * ... The collation is utf8 for a long time now. I see no relevant error messages in the logs, which is puzzling for me. However I will watch out next time I upgrade. I use other php based web applications on my site (nextcloud, dadabik for e.g.). Dadabik upgrades smoothly, while for nextcloud I usually also do manual upgrades without errors. If you have any ideas how to get closer to the root of this symptom, please let me know.
