Please let me share some information that will hopefully answer your
questions.

You are describing bug #19315 http://bugs.mysql.com/bug.php?id=19315
that is already fixed in the source code. We are currently working on
new builds for OS X and Linux but due to the new bundled setup change
these releases are a bit delayed.

With MySQL Workbench we tried to follow our rule of release early,
release often, but a lot of people are discouraged when coming from
DBDesigner4, which can be considered much more stable and feature complete.

Generally speaking, MySQL Workbench is in Alpha phase at the moment and
therefor cannot be considered stable at all. Further, the MySQL GUI team
is currently working on closing all open bugs for older tools and we
will come back to work on the Workbench in Q4 this year.

We know that a lot of people are urgently waiting for a stable release
of WB but it is also very important that we dedicate time to the older
tools.

You can find more information about that and our schedule in this forum
post, http://forums.mysql.com/read.php?113,100563,100563#msg-100563

So please take WB as a sneak preview at the moment, still use
DBDesigner4 if you can and early next year we will have a rock solid
version of MySQL Workbench that will reward you for your long waiting
time - we will do the best we can.

Best regards from Vienna,
Mike
