After some thinking (yes, I really do think sometimes :) ),
I would agree
that this will add some uneeded complexity in the plugins
code. I do not
agree with the liberties loss argument - I think from
usability POV it is
much clearer to have limited number of volume control plugin
instances, but
1. I'm not an usability expert, and
2. the complexity argument is strong enough to drop this
idea.
