As for hosting files, I keep audio files (recordings that I made) which can't go on normal website hosting services because those tend to ban all audio/video recordings so as not to get caught-up hosting pirated content, on a commercial CDN - in my case, Rackspace. It used to very cheap (because my files are far smaller than videos etc) but a while ago Rackspace set a minimum monthly charge of £4... Eventually I'll either start putting safety copies of other files there too (for that cost I could store up to 25 GB per year), or move stuff to a cheaper service. With services like this one pays both for storage and downloading bandwidth, but as these are 'proper' commercial services one might reasonably expect that they will continue to be around.
