Re: PGP-keyserver on port 80

SKS 1.0.5 (now CVS-only, release to come soon) supports querying on port
80, although it hasn't been seriously tested.  Also, SKS 1.0.5 alone
among the freely available keyservers:

  - Has no (known) key-mangling problems.  In particular, subkey
    signatures are preserved unmangled, and with 1.0.5 you can 
    actually query by subkey keyid
  - Has a reliable and efficient replication algorithm.  Unlike PKS,
    SKS pretty much can't lose a key. (more precisely, if any live SKS
    keyserver has a key, then eventually all of them will.)

The main downside of SKS is that it's written in a language unfamilier
to most --- ocaml.  But you should give it a look see.  You can find the
latest version at http://www.nongnu.org/sks.  You should probably give
the pre-1.0.5 CVS version a whirl, rather than the 1.0.4 tarball.

(btw, I'm the main developer of SKS, so I come with obvious biases.)
