Right now I'm considering the following (Thanks MUCH to Todd for the tip about Intel chipsets. I kept reading "Intel Extreme" and moving on to the next model.) Intel "D845GVSRL" i845GV Chipset Motherboard 82845GV is supported for video Audio is RealTek ALC202A implementing AC97 codec Intel Celeron D "315" 2.26 GHz, 533MHz FSB Rosewill 184-Pin 512MB DDR PC-2700 (DDR 333) Remember that this is for the AdvanceCD project, which has slightly different audio and video support than the AdvanceMAME project. These three together run less than $200. I've got an old CD drive. I think I've got a power supply that will be OK. And I plan on using an IPAC and a couple of 4/8-way joysticks. Gamelist will be the older stuff. The beauty of the system is that the hard drive can't crash, which means no support calls for me! And no complicated menu for me to set up or for the users to work with. And I know that AdvanceCD is somewhat dated (six months, at the moment) but I want something stable- not something that does the latest games. This setup isn't for my use. I'm keen for any thoughts or comments you might have. In particular: I'm told that while many video cards are supported, some (like ATI cards) are better than others. Does anyone know how well the Intel stuff works?
