After reading the mailing list archives and forums I installed a Matrox G400 video card and an Ensoniq 1371 chipset sound card to run AdvanceMame in Linux (Advmame-patched svgalib). I got random console lockups, where I would have to exit Linux ungracefully (hard reset). Thinking it had to be some svgalib bug, I recompiled the kernel to use the Linux Framebuffer. Same thing - random lockups in Framebuffer mode (no svgalib driver insmod'd). So now I am fairly certain it's a hardware conflict, not a video driver problem. So my question is - If you're running a stable (no lockup) Advmame compile in Linux, what video/sound cards are you using? Especially if you're using a D9200 monitor. Also tell me if you've experienced this problem before and found the solution - I'm assuming it's my hardware but I could be wrong. My specs: Athlon xp2600+ Mandriva Linux 2006 (2.6.12-12 kernel) Matrox G400 video AGP Ensoniq 1731 sound card WG D9200 monitor Thanks, Ken ------------------------------------------------------- This SF.net email is sponsored by: Splunk Inc.
