Best resolution for advmenu on 21 arcade monitor?

Hello,

I have a 21" arcade monitor that's mounted vertically. I have Advmenu 
running (rotated) but I don't like the resolution at all. I have used a very 
low resolution (224x300 or 240x300, not sure) because otherwise the text is 
unreadable.

Any tips?
Can I use a resolution of let's say 800x600? Is it wise to configure only 
one modeline for Advmenu?

Another question: is there a good tutorial somewhere to adjust the Advmenu 
interface to your liking? I want to add pictures, movies and sound. Are 
there examples?
