Nope. I checked carefully for that. Nothing survived the battle. The text below the planet said "52,387 people killed", not anything like "52,386 of 52,387 people". All ships and people were destroyed in the battle, and when the colonizer arrived there wasn't a message about a second battle. Just a message that said I colonized the planet, but the planet had no metal. This is a rare problem since it only happens when a battle ends with all participants destroyed. But if everyone watches for it, I'm sure others will see it too.
