Long shot here - just hit the Armageddon button and take out a huge
chunk of the galaxy. It'll leave behind a huge reserve of metal to be
mined again plus there's a chance that your planet might just survive
(save the game).

That'll buy some time as he'll take time to recover. Since you only
have one surviving planet, you can now try to build up your cash
supply. Borrowing and deficit spending would be out in your case
because you have only one planet and you won't be able to borrow much.
