You are right on the dot!
My anti virus is AVG, and on all my PCs it had quarantined libgio-2.0.0.dll because it suspected the "idp.generic" threat. Without telling me, grrr...

With your hint I went into its quarantine feature, and there it was. Just de-quarantined it and added an exception, and voilà! Gramps works again.

Thank you so much, Enno. I had wasted hours on this and gotten so frustrated.
I really appreciate that you took the time to share your expertise. Thanks again.

dan

Hi Dan,

I think that I once saw a virus scanner complain about the introspection component, which it then tried to deactivate or even remove that. And it is quite essential for the user interface, so if it isn't there, Gramps quits.

Can you tell us more about your virusscanner? Can you inspect its logs to see whether they mention anything which looks suspicious? I think that on one of my PC's, it was F-Secure, that suddenly gave a false alarm.

Regards,

Enno
