No, promotion isn't an activity that hasn't seemed to appeal to our volunteers. Gramps did not have any presences at Rootstech 2023.
Plus Gramps is better suited to users who seek out solutions independently. (For instance, the documentation is all reference style, not tutorial. So users who need to be lead through a tool probably aren't going to be very happy.) We've taken a lot of bashing for that from the mass market. Since the RootsTech show is very much oriented towards the mass market, volunteering there would be a bit masochistic. We'd probably benefit more from an Open Source, civic hacking or crowdsourcing event.

evaluating Rootsmagic 9, as it runs natively on MacOS, without needing a 
Windows emulator (as she put is, "without having to resort to the dark 
side of the chip").

 From the GRAMPS web site, GRAMPS, from my understanding, runs natively 
on each of MS Windows and MacOS, in addition to Linux (is there any 
intent to port it also, to BSD, to run on any of the desktop BSD's, like 
MidnightBSD ?).

So, depending on what would be involved, to me, for GRAMPS to be at 
least a virtual, if not a physical (depending on the proximity of 
developers) exhibitor, at such annual genealogical conferences, to 
promote GRAMPS, would be appropriate, and, a means of increasing 
awareness of GRAMPS, as a multi-platform genealogy application (I do not 
know of any other genealogy platform, that runs natively, on each of the 
three operating systems; Linux, MS Windows, and MacOS - not many 
applications run natively, on all three).

So, was GRAMPS at Rootstech 2023?

Rootstech 2024, is due to start on 29 February 2024, and, run for a few 
days, if the GRAMPS Project people are interested in investigating the 
prospect of being involved.
