Battery display generates ACPI events (stops X from powering off display)

Hi All,
I noticed that when I enable battery display in Gkrellm, an ACPI event
is generated every time gkrellm checks the battery status. I have acpid
running, and the message logged by acpid is something like
acpid: group=processor, action=processor, device=CPU1, value=00000000, id=00000080
I only have one CPU on my system (CPU0).
If this just meant a few extra lines in my system log I wouldn't care.
However what happens is that X thinks that this is a real ACPI event,
and decides to wake up the monitor! So with gkrellm running, my monitor
doesn't power off.
Of course, reading the battery status and CPU temperature manually from
the files /proc/acpi/battery/BAT0/* does not generate this ACPI event.
Any idea why, and how I can stop this?
