I don't know if this helps any or not, but I run Gentoo x86_64 with GKrellM
2.3.1 and GKrellkam 2.0.0 and my Gkrellkam plugin is working just fine with
2 images constantly updating. I did nothing special to the main program or
the plugin.

Another thing which may have a bearing on this is I am not using a cam but
rather in one window cycling photos, and the other one displaying downloaded
weather radar updates. During hurricane season I use a 3rd window to track
the path of a particular storm.

When my boss ran a weather cam, I had a window updating from it but again it
was downloading images rather than direct stream from a camera.

I suggest setting up some static photos and have it cycle through them to see
if that works. If it does then I suspect the problem is with the camera
images being displayed.. maybe they change ownership or permissions so
krellkam cannot read them? This may be especially true if pressing the reread
image listing button in the krellkam config changes the image and then it
does not change again.

I have found that occasionally the displayed image only shows a partial image
while clicking on it shows the completed one. This is due to krellkam reading
the image before it is completely written. This may also be your situation.
Try setting the reading timing so it cannot conflict with the image update...
ie... set the image update for even times and krellkam for odd times. this
would minimize the number of mis-reads due to updates.
