no disk activity on os x

Hello,

I'm using gkrellm version 2.3.2 installed with fink on OS X (10.5.8).
Everything appears to be working properly except that the disk
activity monitor isn't working properly, note that this is appear to
be similar to what was discussed in this thread:

If I load a cd or dvd in the cd/dvd drive and start gkrellm then the
disk monitor works properly for both the internal hard drive and the
cd/dvd drive. If I eject the cd disk the disk monitor for the HD still
continues to work, however if I stop then restart gkrellm without a
cd/dvd in the drive it fails to monitor *any* drive again. Any help
would be appreciated. Thanks,
