Perhaps you already know, but a convenient tool for doing that outside of gqview is exiftool: http://www.sno.phy.queensu.ca/~phil/exiftool/ You can do: exiftool -b -JpgFromRaw foo.nef >foo.jpg The embedded JPEG does not have its own EXIF header.
