Yes, I haven't changed the default /etc/screenrc on any of my machines,
and I don't have any .screenrc files for any users.  So, ctrl-a is my
escape sequence on all boxes.

That's also what I am seeing.

This is what I'd like to have happen.  But "ctrl-a a c" just prints c. 
Hmm... so maybe it's something else.  Perhaps the /etc/screenrc that was
installed the with Gentoo ebuild is borked in some fashion?  You can

I'm glad I was able to convey my intent.  Now I'm racked with dread
