Yes, it can.  I've recently run into problems where Chromium is  
frequently dropping certain display lists generated from a scientific  
vis app.  I have yet to explore why the problem is happening.

You can play a bit with Chromium's processing of display lists  
through the "dlist" options in the tilesort SPU.
