I have found the answer to my question.  If anyone else is 
interested, here is one solution:

- Open the database that you wish to export categories from.

- Export the categories that you want via Database->Import and 
Export menu.  When the "Import and Export" dialog is displayed, 
choose the "Export Category Definitions" (near the bottom).

- The "Export Category Schema" is displayed.  Choose the "IMatch 
Category Schema Standard Format", provide the filename, and choose 
which categories you wish to export.

- Open the database that you wish to export categories to.

- Import the categories that you want via Database->Import and 
Export menu.  When the "Import and Export" dialog is displayed, 
choose the "Import Category Definitions" (at the bottom).

- The "Import Category Schema" is displayed.  Provide the filename 
and the file format ("IMatch Category Schema Standard Format") from 
the previous step.  Finally, choose the parent category for the 
imported categories.  I left this at the default (@All).
