Well... most of TIFF attributes could be saved to PNG metadata: size; resolution; datetime; title; software; source; artist; copyright. White point and primary chromacies is deprecated but could be saved; same for transfer function (which could be saved to ICC profile if I correctly understood it's short description). Orientation could be applied. It's not easy to apply orientation for lossy jpeg, but could be more easy for lossless PNG. Only tags left are "equipment manufacturer"(could it be parsed from equipment?) and "ReferenceBlackWhite". Practically it's possible to postpone thumbnail and GPS and focus only on EXIF IFD. I still think that it's better to have separate chunk specification for preview and GPS in EXIF is mostly could be replaced with single-waypoint GPX (http://www.topografix.com/GPX/1/1/#type_wptType ) stored in text. 03.03.2017 20:14, Glenn Randers-Pehrson пишет: > It would be a redesign of the eXIf chunk, but we could do that. > Just eliminate the TIFF header and IFD structure, and only put > a consecutive stream of EXIF/GPS/thumbnail tags in eXIf. > > That's more or less what I tried to do 10-12 years ago, but > the project died due to lack of interest. > > That means conversion back to JPEG or TIFF would involve > rebuilding the IFD structure, but that's pretty simple. > > Glenn > > ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ > Check out the vibrant tech community on one of the world's most > engaging tech sites, SlashDot.org! http://sdm.link/slashdot > _______________________________________________ > png-mng-misc mailing list > [email protected] > https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/png-mng-misc -- Have a nice DOS.
