What, he's a certified psychiatrist that's legally entitled to declare people insane? Interesting, never'd thought he was. And even then, calling people names, no matter how correct, is not done in sociable circles. There are much better ways to go about. > > I could see this project go somewhere if a muzzle was put on Andrew (so > > proper discussion could resume) and he was given a particular task or > > piece of the project (rather than letting him toss code in where and > > when he so chooses). > > I don't think anyone has the power to "muzzle" Andrew, and I wouldn't want > to even if I could. If that freedom is to be excercised to the point that it effectively forces others to killfile and put big ``beware of dog, update twitlist'' near the list subscription interface, I'd say something is wrong. I'm not about to muzzle anybody. I'd rather we all could get along. (insert cheesy song and dance here) No, I'm not serious about singing and dancing, but I am serious about excercising a bit of maturity and deciding it is wiser to not call someone whatever names are on your mind, but to explain the technicalities. If that is what it takes to enlighten people, then it's a small price to pay. Indicentally, every time you explain something to someone else you're forced to think about it again. Meaning you could actually learn something from explaining things you know already. Which is, in fact, one of the major reasons to hang around on mailing lists and usenet: you just might learn something new yourself, even if you think you know it all. If that's too much, then just declining to call names is a start. -- j p d (at) d s b (dot) t u d e l f t (dot) n l .
