Me and some friends, we started a project (http://arm0nia.org), not for 
X replacement but a desktop
environment that will work from frame buffer to X. We have start with 
the creation of the low level
support (it suppose to be a plugin based desktop) but when we came to 
start creating the gui, we stuck.
It is very difficult to create the widgets etc from scratch. I had the 
idea to start using Y but… this project
doesn’t go anywhere. We are still looking for alternatives. If anyone 
has any ideas or has the time and the
knowledge to help us, feel free to mail me.
