My personal experience, fwiw -  I frequently want to look at P/A while speaking with someone on my Android device (Nexus 5) in normal phone-to-ear mode, no speaker, no earphone.  It is *no problem at all* to say to the person at the other end, hold on a sec, I want to check my calendar, open P/A which does not drop the call, still there, put phone to ear and transact while calendar is still open, make entries or notes while person is still on line, etc.  The current devices and AOS handle multitasking just fine.

I find it, when ppl talk to me on 'speakerphone', it's a lot harder for me
to hear it clearly what they say;

conversely, I assume, same applies at the other end, if I speak on
speakerphone, the other patrty might have issues in understanding clearly
what I'm saying

I mean, there are times when it's just unavoidable, like, working with
both hands whilst talking, to say nothing about other many situation...

apasrt from quality drop, loud speaking conversations are not always
possible, due to locality you're in

yes, well, my PC is P2 350MHz running OS/2, and, it does everything I
need, faster than my dual core PC, but that's another story
