I'm currently writing a Progect PDB <-> XML translator (I can't
remember if I said that in this thread, so I'm sorry if I'm repeating
myself).

[ For those who care, it's about halfway done creating XML, and not
done for reading XML. ]

It is written in Python, so it should easily run on Mac OSX.

The issue will be getting the sync engine to convert the PDB to XML
after it has been saved to disk. And then back again of course.

I expect that someone on this list who uses both the Mac and Linux
will be able to post a simple and easy way to make that happen on
those respective platforms once I have the converter working.

Certainly I will be happy to distribute the files needed in the
release to make things easier for people.


Now, on Windows the issue might be slightly different, I'm not sure
how easy it is to write a conduit in Python, which would be my
preference. I know that Blake
Winton was working on it, and had a bear of a time. I have a great
deal of respect for his abilities, and if he had trouble, I will most
certainly have trouble as
well.

It may be that I will have to do the Windows conduit using C++, which
would be fine (since I'm comfortable with it), but unfortunate, since
I would then have to have
two code bases.

Either that, or I could simply have the Outliner Framework know how to
load a PDB file by converting it in the background, I guess whatever
works.

We need a new (or fixed) Windows conduit though, so that has to be
dealt with as well.
