RE: CAN protocol used Mersedes Benz bus 0-500

Most of the larger vehicles, such as buses, use SAE J1939. But even if it is J1939, some companies make heavy use of the proprietary messages IDs defined within it. If it isn't J1939, it will be a proprietary protocol and, if we knew what it was, we couldn't tell you.

Why wouldn't we be able to tell you? Because the only people who are told what protocol is being used are those who are working on projects for Mercedes Benz, either directly or indirectly. And before they tell us any details, we have to sign non-disclosure agreements.

Hello every one,

In a project we want to interpret Mercedes Benz bus 0-500 CAN data. We were successful to receive data from CAN bus (from star-point and Instrument control). However we don't know what protocol is used in these buses, for example is it j1939 or another protocol has been used?

I would be very grateful for your help,

Best regards,

Majid.
