Airbags inflated CAN message?

Hi

I need to know if the air bags in the car are inflated

I guess this data runs over CAN but i can't detect it via regular sniffing
(crash the car???)

This goes for as many cars as possible (e.g. hyundai I20,  Toyota outlander
etc) as this is for a generic application

Best solution may not involve connecting to the OBD and reading error codes

can anyone advise?
