I call that `proper design`. ;)

Unfortunately I lack the skill necessary, otherwise I'd be more than
happy to work on a CLI interface. Such is always the case though -
plenty of users, not many coders with time and interest/motivation.

That's a lot of people these days... More & more people every day are
relying on a phone/phablet/tablet and some kind of media player be it
roku, tiny mini-pc running kodi, one of those usb android devices,
dedicated htpc, etc. If you're not interested none of that matters
though.

That's a nice surprise! I do have the hardware afterall it seems. I'll
have to get everything out and follow your howto to get it set up
correctly. I also have a small test box I can use, I'll just have to
re-install the OS and whatever else is required. I would like to
figure out what that remote is once & for all.
