Thank you Bengt: To test out IR HW bypass, first I'm using two RPI3, connecting the GPIO22 and ground pins on RPI3-TX TO GPIO23 and ground RPI3-RX. I added "frequency 0" to the lircd.conf which was originally generated using the irrecord utility.. I'm not using the optocoupler. Does the "invert=on" invert the waveform completely or should I manuallymodify in the lircd.conf? Since there is no remote control there is no need to invert to save battery power. Greatly appreciate your help.
