I corresponded John Bedini about his large motor, and his answers were, as you mentioned, either delusional or those of 
a scammer.
I did not know about his "amplifier days".

Flashlight Patents - I have a hand full of Every Day Carry lights that will work on "dead" AA batteries.  The first was 
the TerraLux LightStar 100.

All the flashlights shown in the Back Up Plot will start using "dead" AA batteries, but not in all modes (BUL-Canidates 
table)

Because of the power outages associated with being very near wildfires I prefer lights with very low light output that 
will run for a long time, like the H53Fc.
These act as "night lights" so you can walk around the house at night.
