Flavours of embedded GCC tookit for PPC.

Dear colleagues

I found 2 collections of GCC toolkits so far:
    powerpc-elf-gcc (gdb, etc.), - provided by Macraigor
    powerpc-eabi-gcc (gdb, etc.) - provided with eCos

My question is are they compatible i.e:
    1. is elf toolkit producing code with eabi binary interface;
    2. is eabi toolkit producing elf format.
Is it possible to debug eabi gcc code with elf gdb or so?

I know that the best answer is try and see, but i hope that already 
somebody had done it.
