sounds like either a problem of bootloader or, maybe, you are using both 
HD and CF at the same time with a CF card which is not compatible with 
DMA mode (everything except lexar).

I would suggest you to use what we use for installing OB automaticaly.
    1- install umigumi (http://umigumi.org/)
    2- use the Mandrake Extranet Server setup and install it on a CF
    3- connect OB to network (with Internet acces).
    4- turn on and wait for 1 or 2 hours

Depending on the hard disk which is used, you may have to try again a 
few times until it works. This is due to some issue in the MDK installer 
in version 9.0 (the version of MDK which is used by Umigumi).
