Hi,

I have an analytical instrument with a "1802421 Rugged Giant" board/chip
inside. It seems that the included battery has failed. After replacing the
battery the instrument does not run, does not show any display information
on the included LCD, does not react to user input on the membrane keypad and
does not react to PC communication.

With one exception: the instrument has a "data" and a "program" RS232
interface. With a terminal connected to the program interface I could make
the instrument beep on some input while on on other it is silent. I.e. there
seems to be a menue running but I do not know what happens and I do not see
any output on the terminal.

The company producing the instrument seems to be gone for good and the
programmer (some Mr. Urbancyk, if by chance he is known here) cannot be
found.

To my questions:
What are the chances that the program is still there and just needs to be
started?
How do I find out if my board has only RAM, EPROM or some other
configuration?
Is there some documentation available to load and start programs?
What would you recommend to do?

TIA
(I also posted this question to the digi legacy hardware forum, but without
success.)
