I have the 169time unit and DirecTV but the .ts files I have recorded do not play smoothly on the HD1000. I have read on other message boards that people with a 169time/Dish Network system have had better luck. Try www.avsforum.com and somebody there with the other system probably already has it in .ts form. Standard broadcast TV (ATSC) plays great with the HD1000. I wish all the movies I have recorded in hi-def from the satellite would play on my hd1000!!!! I guess I am in a small minority and I doubt Roku will ever waste their man power figuring out why the 169time/DirecTV streams do not play correctly - but it would make the HD1000 that much sweeter. You ship your receiver to them and they modify its hardware. You then connect a (new) cable from that receiver to a dedicated PC that you also receive as part of the package. The PC converts the MPEG data into an ATSC transport stream, suitable for recording on a D-VHS deck or other recorder. Every Tuesday morning at 8:00 ET, they air 10 minutes of test patterns. There is a company that modifies some DirecTV/Dish receivers to add firewire ports which allows recording of HD to DVHS or a PC/Mac hard drive. www.169time.com. I don't know much about it, some people are happy with it, some have had problems...
