Also >eligible are designed experiences executed in real time/space for the >purposes outlined above." > >Now, I find a couple things bizarre about this description. To start, I am >not sure what "designed experiences executed in real/time space" means? >Does this mean that I can send them a video of me designing a user interface in >real time? That would be fascinating. Nothing more exciting then watching >someone prototype stuff on their computer. Got me stumped. Not sure if you're being tongue-in-cheek here. Are you seriously suggesting that you interpret 'designed experiences' as 'watching someone do the designing'? Think of performance art. Artist or patrons dance in front of a camera, music changes to match movements. It's a designed experience that's executed in real time/space. >... seems to specifically exclude desktop applications. No, not specifcally. You might, if you stretch it, assume that it *implictly* excludes them, but there's nothing that says they're excluded. I would offer that they assume desktop is a "given", and that they are providing examples that might be questionable. >Finally, I find it interesting that this competition, along with most other >design competitions, groups all interactive design under one category. >Although I think it is very difficult to compare a cool web animation with a >software interface for a mobile device, someone is going to have say which >is the "better" experience for two EXTREMELY different things. By implication, this is about going outside-the-box. To carefully define categories of interactive design would be to stunt creativity. I would expect that yes, they are not so much comparing one to another and judging which is "better", so much as looking for a broad range, and then merely giving them a subjective rating. Most creative, most outside-the-box = 1st prize. ------------------------ Yahoo! Groups Sponsor --------------------~--> Yahoo!
