In my opinion the goal of the localisation working group is to stimulate
and coordinate cooperation between the different localisation teams.
Naturally these teams continue to operate independently, but hopefully
in cooperation with other teams on key issues (e.g. dictionary).
The working group should help create the right conditions and perhaps
provide the tools to facilitate and grow such cooperation. From that
perspective the localisation weekend can be seen as a tool as well.

At the moment the working group is organised under Linux-Aktivaattori.
But our general goal of stimulating the use of Linux in Finland would
also be served if the working group wouldn't be organised under our
wings.
The most important thing, from our point of view, is that such a group
exists.

Linux-Aktivaattori doesn't do any kind of localisation itself,
this is what the localisation teams are good at and its what they should
continue doing.

Although my own views about the localisation working group are quite
clear, this might not be the case with others involved in the working
group. I think it is important, as a group, to define concrete goals and
methods of working together, so it is clear to all what to expect from
each other.
As I suggested in another email, I think the localisation weekend would
be a very good opportunity to define these goals and generally discuss
cooperation.
