Hi Slava, > Is JDK 1.1 compatibility still important? I think it could simplify > the code a little to not have to maintain it. I think its time to stop supporting 1.1. 1.2 was released in 1998! 1.3 was released in early 2000 (I don't recall the month.) The use of collections will improve performance and make the code much nicer. I favor setting 1.3 as the base. People that need 1.1 or 1.2 support can always use older versions of BeanShell. > - I don't want BeanShell to become too big or complex; I'd prefer it to > stick to Java syntax and sematics as closely as possible. I certainly agree it shouldn't become "big or complex". As you know, I favor adding a few scripty features (still very readable to Java programmers) which can be turned off in strict Java mode, but if I am in the minority I might provide these in a branch.
