The only issue would be for people doing embedded systems... but I'm not really up on what subsets of Java are supported by what J2ME spec, etc. In any event, I agree that we could make the current 1.3 branch the base for any embedded BeanShell development in the future... (the last version prior to the class generating code). Targetting Java 1.3 for 2.0/modern BeanShell makes some sense since it is where the Proxy interface generator appeared and that is pretty fundamental to BeanShell now... What do you think? BeanShell 1.3-, Java 1.1 BeanShell 2.0+, Java 1.3 Having collections would certainly clean up a lot of code... and having 1.3 would allow some loadable modules to simply be folded in...
