We have property sets thanks to OsUser which allow us to store any number of extra properties.  Just call user.getPropertySet().setDouble("battingAverage", 0.300); to set that property.  The backend will persist it to whatever storage facility we're currently using (LDAP, DB)

Description:
We want administrators to be able to define extra properties that are created on all users.  This is useful because all sites have a different need, so a site devoted to baseball may want to store a batting average.  Jive allows something similar.
