George Dvorak opened the discussion about NetBeans as a IDE vs. Tools
Platform. 
According to Pavel Buzek's reply more and more people are asking about
this.

A new application based on NetBeans proved that NetBeans is becoming a
Tools
Platform - ESC International built its MINEX on top of NetBeans. Minex V
is an integrated software solution for the evaluation and planning of
open-cut 
and underground mines for both coal and minerals. Something completely
different 
than an IDE:

The release 3.3 schedule seems to be resolved. According to Dan
Pfeffer's e-mail, 
the Metadata Repository will only be an experimental module in NetBeans
3.3, 
so the schedule can remain unchanged as proposed.

We have a new module for NetBeans - Graphical Class Diagram Editor. The
Diagram Editor graphically displays packages/classes/interfaces,
extends/implements, methods/fields.

* Quality

Jan Chalupa announced the new weekly "Q-builds" process. "Q-build" is a
build with an assured level of quality, which will be subject to QA
testing and which the developers and courageous users are expected to
use 
for their production work.

In the first week of the Q-build process QA discovered some bugs, which 
caused build #206 to not be promoted as a Q-build. It is supposed that 
developers will read the report and fix the most serious bugs by next
week.

Annotations (AKA Glyphs): A new document was submitted describing 
the general mechanism of annotations in NetBeans. 
It defines an API and also concrete implementation of annotations
visualization in NetBeans editor.
