Apart from the ease to publish your thoughts independently with private
funds these days on websites, I am completely with the editor here. The
editor did not direct what he should draw. Just what he was submitting to
the newspaper. By continuing to submit cartoons specifically not asked for,
the cartoonist was wasting his editor's time and money deliberately and
went against the commercial interests of his employer. Sounds like a sure
way to get fired indeed.
