  I'm using a local maildir as well, although I'm not running the CVS
version. Even though the system is a well equipped (P4 2.6 GHz with 768
megs of ram and a Ultra-ATA 100 hard disk with 8 megs of cache), I still
get very dismal results -- at best, it would seem, I get about 100
messages searched per second.

  Yeah, I know what you mean. The only thing I like about IMAP is the
potential to keep my mail on both my desktop and laptop. I haven't
figured out any other way to do that efficiently.
